TODAY, TOMORROW

a day without loneliness.

a day spent brushing my teeth in the dark with the door wide open,

waiting for some sliver of light to bounce off my shoulder.

give me peace.

give me walking on water.

i am watching the toothpaste spatter like blood from a slit throat.

the only thing that Sufjan sings for me

half-light jack-knife

into the canyon at night

catches in my chest like a stone.

my only playlist is stuck on repeat and i can’t find the button to turn it off.
